What are the top challenges faced by the aviation industry?

The aviation industry is one of the fastest-growing and popular industries in the world that contributes significantly to the global economy. Young aspirants want to join this popular industry due to multiple job opportunities and lucrative salary packages. Moreover, the aviation industry allows you to climb the steps of success quickly in life. The recent pandemic crisis has hit the industry very badly but despite the economic impact of Covid19 it is steadily moving forward on the road to recovery and may very well get to the mainstream within a few years.

Government Aviation Colleges offer an array of aviation courses that aspirants can opt for to make it big in the aviation industry. But, it is also important to highlight that the aviation sector has its fair share of challenges like government regulations, labor shortage, terrorism, recessions, etc. Today, let us have a close look at some of the top challenges faced by the aviation industry:

Fuel

The cost of aviation fuel and its availability has been plaguing the aviation industry for quite a long time. High jet fuel prices have a direct impact on the finances of the airline industry. Though time to time the aviation industry has focused on the use of alternative fuels but they haven’t been that impactful.

Global Economy

The State of the world economy after the Covid 19 crisis is also a matter of concern for the aviation industry. The Covid 19 pandemic has impacted the aviation industry hardly. The collapse of the global economy and the imposed travel restrictions due to the dreadful pandemic crisis have increased fuel cost and the industry have also seen a drastic reduction in the number of passengers that have hit both the global aviation sector badly.

Airline Infrastructure

Airports must consistently upgrade their infrastructure- runways, terminals, lounges, shopping centers, and more. There is major competition in this area, to remain ahead but due to the impact of the Covid 19 crisis on the finances of the aviation industry the airports are finding it challenging to upgrade their infrastructures.

Climatic Change

This is a very serious issue that the aviation industry is facing for quite a long time. Commercial aviation is responsible for the hazardous carbon emissions that are responsible for a drastic climatic change globally and the airline industry is under tremendous pressure to undertake environmental measures that will reduce the dreadful impact of air travel.  International Air Transport Association ( IATA ) had suggested a multi-faceted, four-pillar strategy, including enhanced technology, efficient aircraft operations, improved infrastructure, and a single global market-based measure. But the aviation industry needs to walk miles before these strategies are successfully implemented.

Terrorism

Tragic events from the past have not only created fear among the passengers but also the aviation industry as a whole. Though terrorist activities have reduced in recent times they still possess a threat to the aviation sector. The aviation industry is under constant pressure to come up with highly secured state- of – the art screening procedures and equipment which is not always possible, especially after the pandemic crisis which has impacted the aviation industry badly.

These are some of the top challenges that the aviation industry is facing for a long time and the coronavirus pandemic has aggravated the challenges further. But as  “Every dark cloud has a silver lining” we can hope that the aviation industry will overcome these challenges very soon.
