JRD Tata is known as the Father of Indian Aviation. He was the first Indian to have a pilot’s license in 1929. He was also the founder of Tata Airlines, the oldest airline in India and now popularly known as “ Air India, the national carrier. Air India returned to its founder, the renowned Tata Group, after 69 years of its nationalization.

In 1990 during the Gulf War in Kuwait, many Indians were stuck there. The then Indian Government with the help of Air India, rescued every single Indian stranded in Kuwait with the world’s largest air evacuation executed during that time. Recently, during the Corona Pandemic Crisis the Indian Government again with Air India launched the famous ‘’Vande Bharat Mission” in 2020, which started repatriating Hundreds of Indians stranded abroad due to Covid 19 and the lockdown and it has turned out to be one of the largest evacuations of civilians by a country.  For me, Vande Bharat Mission will always remain close to my heart as I boarded an Air India Flight (under Vande Bharat Mission) from Toronto, Canada to Delhi (July 2020) to return safely to my motherland.

According to various researches and reports, the Indian Aviation Industry is growing at a rapid rate. It is the third-largest domestic civil aviation market in the world. Though the global pandemic has largely impacted the aviation sector globally, the good news is that the Indian aviation industry is on the road to recovery and it is expected that by 2030 India’s aviation industry will be the largest in the world.

The number of domestic passengers is growing every year in India.  More than 150 million domestic passengers in a year are the highest ever by any country. So, there is no surprise to consider future opportunities and scope in the aviation industry.

According to some reports, the growth in Indian airline traffic is 4 times above the international average and the Indian Aviation Industry accounts for 70% of South Asia’s total airline traffic.
