I was always fascinated by the elegance and the prestige associated with the aviation industry. It was my dream since childhood to become an air hostess and fly high in the sky with a successful career. I knew that there are lots of perks of being an air hostess. I can be a globetrotter, I can be with people belonging to different cultures and backgrounds and know a lot about their lifestyle, can taste various exotic cuisines from the different parts of the world, can enjoy discounts on lodgings and food, and to add the cherry on the top of the cake I can do lots of shopping from various destinations of the world, which I think every girl will love to do.

So, to turn my dreams into reality of becoming a successful air hostess I enrolled myself in the best air hostess training college in Kolkata, and under the able guidance of highly experienced instructors, I completed my Diploma in Aviation Hospitality and Management and started working as an air hostess for a reputed domestic airline company. But, as I said earlier I always wanted to reach the zenith of success and explore the whole world, So after gaining 2 years of experience I applied with a reputed International Airlines and I consider myself fortunate enough to get selected. My happiness knew no bounds. Four years have already passed since me being an international air hostess but the memory of my first day, as an international air hostess still gives me goosebumps. I remember very well that my first international destination was London and we had a 30-hour stopover. I was on cloud nine and after my duty hours, I went out on a solo London Trip, and guess what I did? Lots of shopping of course.

Today, let me share with you how my life changed since becoming an air hostess for an international airline

It has changed a lot. Now, I earn a lot more and can travel to various destinations of the world, Paris is my favorite. , try different cuisines and meet people from other parts of the world. I have even got an opportunity to meet one of my favorite Bollywood stars on board.

But being an international Airhostess is not always cool. I don’t have any fixed schedule and don’t get off on my favorite days. Sometimes I have to be away from my family for 6-7 days at a stretch and I miss them very badly.

I may be tired but with a broad smile on my face I have to greet every passenger on board, maybe 350 passengers and cater to their needs, and ensure that they have a safe and comfortable flight. Most of the passengers are very nice and pleasing to deal with, but sometimes some unruly passengers may shout and scream. I need to deal with them very politely as this is the job I love, to be with people and ensure they have a comfortable and safe flying experience.

As an Airhostess, we are trained very well on how to keep ourselves calm during any difficulties. One thing I have noticed while flying internationally is that you will face turbulence more and some of them are extreme and sometimes I am scared of it. But as an air hostess, I have to be brave and reassuring as I am the one who is responsible for the safety of the passengers. 

I am a tea lover, but now I drink an unnecessary amount of coffee. We all know that airplanes fly across several time zones so I am unable to keep a track of the exact time of the day or night and slowly I have turned into a coffee lover.

My love for food items like sandwiches, chipotle chicken being my favorite, pasta, butter croissants, apple and chocolate Danish, macaroons, and Swiss chocolates,  have increased since I am flying internationally. I make it a point whenever I visit Europe I buy lots and lots of Swiss Chocolates, “Toblerone” is my all-time favorite. And to share a secret with the girls I am obsessed with MAC Lipsticks and Sephora. I always visit duty-free MAC and Sephora stores in various airports to treat myself with lipsticks and other cosmetics.

My wardrobe is full of clothes, most of which I have never worn, but still, it has to be filled with clothes of numerous brands from the shopping malls of various cities of the world that I have flown to as an air hostess 

This is how my life has changed after flying internationally. IT IS A MIXED FEELING. Sometimes your life is a bed of roses, sometimes it is not so good, but this is the job I dreamt of doing SERVING PEOPLE, BEING WITH PEOPLE and I am really happy with it.
